Article V. Officers

Section I. President

This individual shall:

  1. Uphold and enforce the constitution of Black Student Alliance.
  2. Ascertain, maintain and promote a direction that progresses the Black Student Alliance towards its purpose as Stated in Article II of the constitution.
  3. Mediate any discrepancies that arise amongst Black Student Alliance officers.
  4. Serve as official signer for all Black Student Alliance’s financial accounts alongside the Vice President.
  5. Conduct quarter organization and officer evaluations.
  6. Manage and assist with the operations of the Black Student Alliance officers in accordance with this constitution and the Vice President.
  7. Appoint committee chairs and supervise committees as needed.
  8. Maintain a tradition of leadership by developing the skills and abilities of the Black Student Alliance’s officers and members.
  9. Act as a delegate alongside the Vice President to the power structure of the University.
  10. Preside over all sessions of the Black Student Alliance that include the general membership.
  11. Delegate authority when deemed appropriate.
  12. Serve as first in command and spokesperson for Black Student Alliance.
  13. Be empowered to fill vacancies of all elected and appointed offices within Black Student Alliance with confirmation from the Black Student Alliance by a three-fourths vote.
  14. Recognize and award achievements of Black Student Alliance officers and members.
  15. Pay an officer fee of $5.00 to maintain the SOFO account.

Section II. Vice President

This individual shall:

  1. Uphold and enforce the constitution of Black Student Alliance.
  2. Ascertain, maintain and promote a direction that progresses the Black Student Alliance towards its purpose as Stated in Article II of the constitution.
  3. Serve as official co-signer for all Black Student Alliance’s financial accounts alongside the President.
  4. Conduct quarter organization and officer evaluations alongside the President.
  5. Manage and assist with the operations of Black Student Alliance’s officers in accordance with this constitution and the President.
  6. Appoint committee chairs and supervise committees as needed alongside the President.
  7. Act as a delegate alongside the President to the power structure of the University.
  8. Preside over all sessions of Black Student Alliance that include the general membership, unless otherwise decided by the President.
  9. Assume the duties of the President when the President is incapable of performing them.
  10. Delegate authority when deemed appropriate by the President.
  11. Serve as second in command and spokesperson of the Black Student Alliance.
  12. Be empowered to fill vacancies of all elected and appointed offices within Black Student Alliance with confirmation of the officers by a three-fourths vote.
  13. Pay an officer fee of $5.00 to maintain the SOFO account.

Section III. Director of Finances:

This individual shall:

  1. Evaluate spending trends.
  2. Keep up-to-date records of the budget.
  3. Serve as an official co-signer for all financial accounts alongside the President and Vice President.
  4. Insure the efficient transaction of funds.
  5. Work closely with the Director of Events.
    1. In certain circumstances act as a substitute for the Director of Events.
  6. Stay in close ties with the other officers to ensure that the accounts are up to accurate records.
  7. Pay an officer fee of $5.00 to maintain the SOFO account.

Section IV. Director of Communications

This individual shall:

  1. Take minutes during each officer and general meeting.
  2. Send the minutes to every officer within 3 days after the meeting has occurred.
  3. File the documents of each said meeting write-up inside of the office.
  4. Create a monthly newsletter (at least 1 page) that will be emailed and posted on the Black Student Alliance’s Facebook page, Twitter page, and Website.
  5. Act as a historian alongside the Director of Social Media by taking pictures at all Black Student Alliance events and posting the pictures on all websites and pages in order to act as a visual record.
  6. Pay an officer fee of $5.00 to maintain the SOFO account.

Section V. Director of Events

This individual shall:

  1. Plan, organize, and implement social, religious, and educational programs as well as see to advertisements, potential fundraisers, and community related services being that these are also a type of event.
  2. Keep record of all events within the term they serve.
  3. Provide a debrief of previous Black Student Alliance
  4. Propose suggestions for future Black Student Alliance
  5. Attend a minimum of 2 events on campus per month of other student organizations present on campus and
  6. Contact other student groups and organizations for collaborations.
  7. Pay an officer fee of $5.00 to maintain the SOFO account.

Section V. Director of Social Media

This individual shall:

  1. Take minutes during each officer and general meeting when the Director of Communications is absent.
  2. Send the minutes to every officer within 3 days after the meeting has occurred if needed.
  3. File the documents of each said meeting write-up inside of the office if asked by the Director of Communications.
  4. Create a monthly newsletter (at least 1 page) alongside the Director of Communications that will be emailed and posted on the Black Student Alliance’s Facebook page, Twitter page, and Website.
  5. Make regular posts on all of Black Student Alliance’s social media pages, which include posting something related to the different ethnicities and cultures on campus every week on both the Facebook, Twitter, and main website pages.
  6. Act as a historian by taking pictures at all Black Student Alliance events and posting the pictures on all websites and pages in order to act as a visual record.
  7. Pay an officer fee of $5.00 to maintain the SOFO account.
Advertisements
